Google Voice is a voice-over-Internet protocol (VoIP) telephone service offered by Google. It works with any Internet-connected device including computers, tablets and smartphones. You can use it to make and receive phone calls, send text messages, and make international calls. Your computer, tablet or smartphone works like a cell phone that you pay for. Google Voice offers unlimited calling anywhere in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and more than 30 countries.
The basic service is free for one Google Voice account and $10 per month for unlimited accounts. There is a monthly fee, however, for using Buy Google Voice Accounts on a mobile phone, in addition to a separate fee for each text message. Google Voice users can change their primary phone number to Google Voice using the Google My Account page.
In addition to making outbound calls, you can make international calls from your Android device via the Google Voice app, which includes a built-in translator. You can also use the app to access your voicemail, manage contacts and manage your call history. The Google Voice app can be downloaded for free from Google Play.
